New York: NY Slice

So I hear that this place serves the BEST NY Slice!

Did you really think I went to Mama Sbarro's to get NY slice?

No, really...

So after getting off the train in Booklyn, we stopped by this small hole in the wall (that's been there for years apparently), to get some real authentic NY slice.

It tastes exactly how it looks. It kinda looks cold in the picture because we walked home with it and then ate it but it was still delicious nonetheless.

New York: Times Square

It was a lot grander the last time I came. It could quite possibly be because I was in 4th grade.

It looks better on TV. That's all I have to say...

New York: Hot Dog

On our way to the southeast corner of central park, we stopped by an authentic New York Hot Dog vendor.

This guy makes it all! Hot dogs, sausage, chestnuts, pretzels, you name it!

Just look at it. So bad but soooo good! The sauerkraut was good too! :)

New York: Subway

We took the subway everywhere! Although, it's kinda strange it costs the same no matter how far you take it.

Our Metrocard! We did pretty well with it because we only had $0.50 left over.

Ugh, was it hot down here in the summer! At least the trains had AC! :)

New York: Upper Playground

It sucks.

Portland and SF are the only good ones so far...

New York: Dessert Truck

We were walking in lower east side and from across the street we saw... the dessert truck!!!

How much better can it get? Dessert? From a truck?!? Well, I guess you can think of ice cream as dessert.. and we do have ice cream trucks.. but this is no ice cream. Where else can you get creme brulee and tiramisu from a truck? Awesomeness.

but... too bad we were all so full from dinner that we didn't get to try it.

next time... next time...

New York: How Brooklyn shops for groceries

It's kinda cool. It's like back in the olden days when markets were owned by families. It's like it has never changed. It's true... the whole time we were in NY I did not see a single supermarket. All the markets were like this one. Very authentic :) Oh yes, and open 24 hrs!

New York: Rice to Riches

If Rice to Riches ever hits the west coast, it will be just like that yogurt fad that happened two years ago. It may or may not. Since yogurt was advertised as "healthy" with the active cultures and whatnot, this rice pudding is quite the opposite. In the store, there are signs posted that praise the thick and persecute the thin.

It's still cool. They give you these awesome bowls you can take home. it even comes with a weird flat spoon thing that you can't use for anything else except rice pudding and even a lid!

there are so many flavors to choose from. they even let you sample it.

Don't worry California, you're bound to see one soon!

New York: Pineapple Bun

So... while we were in NY, Josh's Dad was so awesome and he bought us the best pineapple buns everyday for breakfast. Milk tea + Pineapple Bun < $2 sooo awesome!! sooo awesome because not only was it cheap, it was super delicious! <3

and i'm pourin' chandon and i got it goin' on

A few weeks ago we went to Napa Valley for some fine vine.

the first winery we visited was Chandon

there was a mushroom stone forest

we got to keep the glasses!

group pix w/ the bubbly

Adrian's getting ready for that big career change

the Opus One winery charged $35 for a taste and they only make 1 wine.

then later we found out that one bottle of their wine costs hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the year

they're riding in on horses

the view out from the winery

the next series of pictures consists of the cause of Adrian's itchy-ness for the rest of the day... enjoy!

the vines

this was taken at robert mondavi winery

then we went to this winery/deli type place and they had tons of cheese!!

castle in napa valley!!

it was super perfect weather. so beautiful!

santa cruz

in early december daniel came to visit me and we went to santa cruz. we checked out mystery spot, had lunch in downtown santa cruz, went to the boardwalk, and visited the UCSC campus.

it was daniel's first time there and I hadn't been there in years

he was really excited and wanted to do all the demonstrations :)

there's me standing slanted

i volunteered for the last demonstration.

this is downtown santa cruz. it reminded me a lot of santa barbara

i brought daniel to pizza my heart where you get a slice of pizza and a tshirt for $5!

yummy

the boardwalk

it was a nice day

some more pictures of the beach

i love the clouds

the rides were closed that day. i think they are closed in the winter except on holidays

another picture of the beach

and they had this holiday train with elves and santa for the kids to ride

another cloud picture

the campus was so secluded, it was hard to figure out where everything was or where we should go

it was also very scary since you can't see past the trees at night

we found a building! it was the library

thanks for visiting daniel! next year, we'll check out the redwood forest :)
